WEMF(World Electronic Music Festival) is an electronic music event held annually in Southern Ontario over a period of three days and it is back. In summer of 2008 Destiny put on what was said to be their last WEMF in Madawaska. However, like a long lost friend, WEMF returns this summer to once again spread the love! Blissed out electronic music fans can once again dance all night wearing sunglasses.  

An exciting addition to WEMF this year – and for the first time ever in Canada — is the “Tower of Destiny”, a major highlight at last year’s Burning Man festival. For those who have never experienced the spectacular cutting-edge staging, it is a must-see live. Also this year, the Center Camp stage expands on the festival-goer’s experience offering a cool, comfortable lounge with 24 hour DJ sets and art installations.

Dedicated to providing WEMF fans with the best concert experience possible, this year a stronger emphasis is placed on developing and nurturing the community. WEMF 2011 will feature multiple stages that are created, funded and operated by WEMF ticket holders. All WEMF ticket holders that are looking for the opportunity to give back to the community can present their concept for a community stage to WEMF through a simple application process. WEMF will then decide which concepts work best for the festival.

We are pleased to announce the return of the World Electronic Music Festival on the weekend on Aug 12-14, 2011. While the name remains the same, almost everything else has been updated, upgraded and sophisticated. Expect bigger and better talent from even more electronic genres, a much bigger emphasis on art and culture and greater community involvement. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the new WEMF emerges to be much more than it was before but without forgetting from whence it came.
